Saving the world is a tough job, but someone has to do it. As humans, we would all like to save the world as long as its easy and convenient. We’re far too busy in this day and age to worry about others, right? Plus we get distracted oh so easy. I just wish there was a simple way to do my part. Well, there is.
According to CNET, the International Federation of the Phongraphic Industry (IFPI) is attempting to team up with ISPs to see exactly what you’re doing online to combat copyright infringement. Ah, such an elegant use of the copyright infringement card. So just exactly why won’t this work?
Tonight I decided to upgrade to Wordpress version 2.6.1. Aside from the small changes seen, I quickly ran into a nice Easter Egg planted by those crazy Wordpress developers. Here’s how it happened.
Before I made the upgrade, I was working on an article. I added a space or hit a random character (something insignificant) before I upgraded and didn’t save. Then I came back to the article, and, to my surprise, it presented me with an autosave feature. Wordpress told me to look at the difference between two versions of the article. I knew there wasn’t a change, so decided to see what would happen if I compared the newest version with itself. After all, it’s a little stupid that you can even do that. Once I hit the button to compare, the screen went blank. A terminal prompt came up saying:
Self-Comparison Detected
Initiating infinite loop eschewal protocol.
Self-Destruct in

Don’t ever let this happen again.
I’m sure some matrix lovers rejoiced when they found this feature. Kudos to the Wordpress team for making me laugh at 2am.
